Australian Boat Safe Licence College is approved by Queensland Transport to conduct Maritime Safety Queensland's Boatsafe Licence course.

Our years of hands-on experience as Masters of commercial vessels far surpasses those of our competitors.  Our Principal, Captain Gordon Petersen, founded the Boatsafe Training Association of Queensland, and is currently the Hon. Secretary.  Rodney Petersen, Senior Trainer, is the Vice President.

Australian Boat Safe Licence College is a safety conscious training College, and as such, we donate $10 from your booking to VOLUNTEER MARINE RESCUE (VMR).

Please note: A Licence cannot be issued to persons under 16 years of age, however you can complete your training with us at 15yrs and 6mths, and submit your "Competency" Certificate/s to Queensland Transport on or after your 16th birthday ("Competency" Certificates expire after 6 months).

NB:  You MUST hold a Recreational Boat Licence in order to train for your Jetski Licence.  If you don't already have a Boat Licence, we offer SAME DAY Boat & Jetski Licence training & assessment.

4 Steps to BoatSafe

  • Make a booking - use the Bookings Form on our "Bookings" page, phone or email
  • Choose EITHER Option 1 - ONLINE LEARNING or Option 2 - FACE-TO-FACE (see options below) 
  • Complete your Course & receive your "Statement of Competency"
  • Submit your "Statement of Competency" to any Queensland Transport office within 6 months of course completion date

You are now licensed for a life-time, legal and ready to have fun on the water!

 

OPTION 1 - ONLINE LEARNING

 

SAVE TIME IN THE CLASSROOM - DO YOUR THEORY ONLINE ...

Spend a few hours completing the theory component online at home at your own pace (see our link online learning) .  You will need to REGISTER, create a PASSWORD, select your course from the COURSE SELECTION page, watch the videos and complete the theory questions.   Then simply make a booking with us for your theory exam and practical on-water training & assessments.  (N.B.  Our ONLINE LEARNING course works best using GOOGLE "CHROME" as your Web Browser.)

 

On-Site course times are as follows:  


Week Days 

Boat ONLY      8am - 10.30am approx

Boat & Jetski   8am - 11.30am approx

Jetski ONLY   10am - 11.30am approx

 

Week Days - afternoon session (Southport ONLY)

Boat ONLY      12.30pm - 3pm approx

Boat & Jetski   12.30pm - 4pm approx

Jetski ONLY    1.30pm - 3pm approx

 

Weekends 

Boat ONLY     10am - 12.30pm approx

Boat & Jetski  10am - 1.30pm approx

Jetski ONLY   12noon - 1.30pm approx

OPTION 2 - FACE-TO-FACE LEARNING plus "Pre-Assessments" short study at home (weekends ONLY)

 

Spend a little more than an hour at home completing our "Pre-Assessments" and bring them with you to your course.  The "Pre-Assessments" are designed for our Clients to gain some underpinning knowledge prior to training.   This course involves classroom time with your Trainer before your theory exam and practical on-water training & assessments.

 

Course times are as follows:  

 

Boat ONLY      8am - 2pm approx

Boat & Jetski   8am - 3pm approx

Jetski ONLY    12noon - 2pm approx
